TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) -- Crews continue working to fill the massive sinkhole that caused part of a road to collapse and swallowed a moving car last week.
Repair crews are spending the weekend at the site of the massive sinkhole on Detroit Avenue. Utility workers and contractors are cleaning out broken sewer and water lines and working to fill the sinkhole.
Some traffic lanes on the road remained closed. But crews hope to have the intersection completely reopened to traffic by the end of the week.
A city spokeswoman has said that the collapse of brick sewers beneath the road caused the approximately 10-foot-deep sinkhole Wednesday. The driver was briefly trapped but climbed out using a ladder with help from a firefighter.
