HAMILTON - Hamilton Police and fire units are on the scene of a train derailment on the CSX Railroad line that runs through downtown Hamilton. A short time ago, a report was received that a two flat cars of a CSX train had derailed at the Walnut Street crossing. Neither car was carrying any cargo. No injuries are reported and there is no danger to persons or property.
Police and railroad officials are on the scene and are determining the the cause of the derailment as well as clearing the tracks and opening the affected streets. At this time the following grade crossings are blocked; Front St., 2nd St., 3rd St., 4th St., Martin Luther King (SR127), Walnut St., Hanover St.
It is unknown how long the grade crossings will be blocked. Motorists can use High St., and the South Hamilton Crossing to travel around the derailment. As more information is made available concerning the opening of crossings, updates will be issued.
