HUBER HEIGHTS -- Huber Heights Police are looking for a 19-year-old man who they say is armed and dangerous.
They're searching for the man they say shot and nearly killed Anika Emanuel.
"It's kind of scary," said Kathy Greene, "Because you don't know when you're going to be safe and when you're not going to be safe."
Greene works in a shopping plaza just behind the Danbarry Movie Theater where the shooting happened Wednesday night.
"We are very concerned that this individual who does not live in our community came into our community and victimized one of our businesses. We're very concerned for the safety of an individual this person is around," said Chief Rob Schommer, Huber Heights Police Department, "This individual is considered armed and dangerous."
That's because police don't believe Cartwright was targeting the manager of the theater for money.
"The individual needed a ride home and in lieu of riding the bus he made the statement I think I'll just go steal a car," said Chief Schommer.
"Is a human life really worth an hour bus ride? if that?" said Jenna Dowler, Huber Heights resident, "That doesn't make sense to me. I don't know why somebody would do that."
"This is the first incident of this kind that I can remember in this area let alone at the theater but our community as a whole," said Chief Schommer.
The community wants to keep scenes like Wednesday night's from happening again, and hopes it doesn't push families out of the city.
"Huber is a safe place," said Dowler, "It's a comfortable place, it's a place that I'm happy raising my kids, it's a place that I was raised, and I can't believe that that kind of violence has been here."
The woman, Anika Emanuel, remains in critical condition but is expected to survive.
