DAYTON -- CityFolk Festival had a solid opening day despite rain and admission fee.

The CityFolk Festival had a slow start thanks to afternoon showers, but the show must go on.

A few dozen people stood in line as the gates were slow to open downtown, but the fun quickly started to roll in.

The weekend boasts 2 stages for live music, dancing, international food options, art workshops and kid friendly exhibits.

This year's $7 admission fee ($3 for kids) didn't keep locals from joining the open day festivities.

"Waiting in line wasn't too much fun but mother nature said you're gonna wait, so we did," Charlene Ballard said with a smile on Friday.

"It's fun! People come from all over. I get to dance on stage with people. It's fun! " Geneva Weaver of Dayton added.

Sunday's big firework finale is still free! There's no charge to enter the grounds after 6:30pm on Sunday.
