YELLOW SPRINGS -- Antioch College is no longer on lock down, after Green County Sheriff Deputies searched for a gunman at a nearby kids camp.

Greene County Sheriff's Deputies say a counselor at the Glen Helen Nature Preserve noticed a white man,  about 6-feet-tall with short brown hair acting suspicious on the hiking trial.  The man was also wearing camouflage.

The counselor politely told the man to leave, but he refused.

"You know his statement was, 'nobody is going to tell me what to do," said James Combs with the Green County Sheriff Office.

That's when the counselor said the man reached in his pocket and pulled out a handgun.

Camp officials notified police and the man ran off.

"No one was injured, all the kids were in one area.  A unit responded immediately, maintained safety perimeter for children," Sgt. Combs explained.

Nearby Antioch College was also immediately put on lock down around 11:30 a.m. but that's been lifted as of Thursday evening.

"Our primary concern is always our students, faculty and staff, so if there ever poses a risk for that, especially the fact that local authorities were involved in it and there was a person reported with a firearm, it was immediate and imminent enough to put it on lock down," Valerie Webster, Antioch College representative explained.

Parents were immediately notified to come pick up their kids.

Although K-9 units searched the area four hours, officers were unable to find the man.

Police say if you notice that man they describe as a white male, 6 feet tall, short brown hair, wearing camouflage, please call the Greene County Sheriff's Department at (937) 562-4800.
