Flu Considered Widespread in Ohio

DAYTON -- The flu season started early this year, and if you haven't already, local health officials are urging everyone to get a flu shot.

The Centers for Disease Control says flu cases are widespread in Ohio and 17 other states.  The Ohio Department of Health says it would be smart to get a flu shot before the holidays, so you are protected just in case your family from out of town bring the virus with them.

"It's really important that you get your flu shot right now so that you have your full protection by the time Christmas rolls around.'', Bill Wharton from Public Health Dayton Montgomery County, ''It takes two weeks in order for you to have full immunity from the time you get your shot or immunization till the time you're fully protected."

Anyone needing a flu shot can get one for $21 from Dayton Montgomery County Public Health.
