DAYTON -- A downtown Dayton bar known for its troubled past will fight to keep its liquor license Wednesday morning.
The Vault Bar and Nightclub on Jefferson Street will have a hearing before the Ohio State Liquor Board at 10:30 a.m. at City Hall.
Liquor licenses are to be renewed each year -- but, if a city objects the license a hearing is held.
The bar is a frequent stop for Dayton Police.
Last Thanksgiving, a shooting killed a 23-year-old man.
Police also tell us they respond to multiple reports of fights outside the bar on a regular basis.
We talked to a Dayton man who has lived in the downtown area for more than 20 years, "how many more people have to get hurt or be stopped from coming downtown because of one bar," said Jeremy Smith.
Smith says when he drives home late at night numerous cop cars are outside the establishment.
"It's non stop," he said.
The city will be presenting it's problems about the bar before the board.
We're told it will take the state a few weeks to make a final decision.
