Man Drowns At Indian Lake State Park;Boaters on Edge

LAKEVIEW -- The first boat accident of the year, has left one man dead. It happened at Indian Lake State Park, around 12:30 Wednesday afternoon.

"I've seen a lot of people drown in this lake," said Stanley Alvinhuts, has lived near Indian Lake State Park for 61 years.

"One summer just alone they drug five bodies out of this lake where people drowned," said Alvinhuts.

He's seen a lot of tragedy on this body  of water, including Wednesday's.

Two men were in a boat, when they started having engine trouble.

One man got out to try and fix the problem, and never came back up.

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources is trying to figure out what happened, but the tragedy has cast a serious shadow on what was to be a beautiful day on the water.

"It's nothing you want to hear, it's nothing good," said Tucker Berg, boater, "It just comes down to safety first just remembering all your basics and keeping common sense into play."

A life jacket is number one for everyone on board the boat, but you also want to take other safety precautions while out on the water."

"Safety equipment with your first aide and your air horn and all that," said Berg.

And a last piece of advice from the man who's lived to see so much tragedy.

"I just want to tell people when they're out on Indian lake just be careful," said Alvinhuts.

The man's name has not been released at this time. Again, investigators are still trying to figure out exactly what caused him to drown.
