UPDATE: Woman Killed in Fiery Crash in Clayton Identified

CLAYTON -- The woman who was pronounced dead at the scene after her car slammed into the back of a tow truck has been identified as 87-year-old Rachel Bransom from Tipp City.

Clayton Police say the car caught fire, trapping the woman inside.  Authorities say it appeared the woman never hit the brakes before crashing into the back of the truck.

Passersby tried unsuccessfully to rescue the woman.

One witness, Joshua Watson, recalls, "it just happened too quick and so fast, we just tried to get her out before she died, tried to help her out."

The driver of the wrecker was taken to a hospital with injuries that were described as not life-threatening.
