DAYTON -- The Dayton Police Department, along with members of the Combined Agency OVI Task Force of Montgomery County, will operate a “no refusal” sobriety checkpoint at 11 p.m. Saturday in the area of South Keowee and Bacon streets.

The goal of the OVI task force is to reduce the number of alcohol- and drug-related traffic crashes, injuries and fatalities in Dayton and Montgomery County. Police say sobriety checkpoints help deter impaired driving and they aid in the apprehension of those impaired drivers who make the choice to get behind the wheel and drive.

Support for the checkpoint will be provided by the law enforcement officers from the Combined Agency OVI Task Force of Montgomery County.
