TROTWOOD -- Trotwood police say a shooting has turned into a homicide investigation after a man in his 20's was found shot multiple times.
Trotwood Police Captain John Porter says the victim was found Thursday around 3 p.m. inside a car off Filbrun Lane and Elgin Roof. Were told there were multiple shell casings found inside the car.
Witnesses told police the car was in a field along Elgin Roof Lane when for some reason it rolled down a hill into the front yard of a home on Filbrun Lane.
Police say the victim was in the driver seat of the car, but it's unclear if he tried to drive away himself.
Although the shell casings were found inside the car, police haven't been able to determine if the suspect was inside or outside the car.
Investigators are working with the Montgomery County Coroner's Office to identify the victim.
Police cleared the scene just after 7 p.m. They covered the car with tarps and towed it away to be checked into evidence.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Trotwood detectives at (937) 854-3988.
