Reviewing the Department of Justice's Spending Habits

WASHINGTON D.C. -- The Department of Justice spent nearly $59 million last year flying employees to gatherings held all over the world.

Among the expenses the department racked up are:
  •    Nearly $500,000 spent for a conference in Indonesia attended by 30 employees
  •    $200,000 for four workers to jet off to Senegal
  •    $100,000 spent for no one to attend a summit in Northern Mariana Islands

The department, led by Attorney General Eric Holder, says conferences provide vital training and outreach to global law enforcement.

As our investigative media partner, the Washington Guardian, found, that's not sitting well with some lawmakers.
