KETTERING -- Police say they found five grams of meth, plus all the chemicals and equipment to make it at a Kettering home.
Michael Saunders hung his head low from the back of a police cruiser, knowing he's in a lot of trouble.
"They had their gas masks on, just from the smell of the odors," said Kettering Public Information Officer, Ron Roberts. He says the S.W.A.T. team found a working meth lab inside the 45 year old's Kettering home.
"We've had our suspicions and everything. Seeing a guy walk back and forth from his house to this house. So we've been saying stuff that there's probably something going on here," said Brian Zindorf, a neighbor.
But neighbors were still surprised that meth was brewing inside the home at 2147 East Bataan Drive.
"We don't want this kind of stuff in our neighborhood," said Zindorf.
Officer Roberts told reporters that "He's known. He's known through our agency. So we've dealt with him for several years. so it's been a pretty in-depth investigation. So he'll be looking at several charges."
Police say they've been watching Saunders for months and his customers also helped them build their case.
"There were complaints from neighbors. Officers were conducting investigations through traffic stops which led to the search warrant," said Roberts.
Inside police say they found deplorable conditions - from standing water to exposed electric cables. The city condemned the home.
Police credit neighbors for taking a stand against crime in their neighborhood.
"We do feel good about it, we're happy about it," said Zindorf.
This appears to be Saunders first drug charge. He has two OVI convictions, and other traffic-related offenses.
