Changes to U.S. Foreign Policy Team

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- There are big changes at the White House tonight as President Obama makes some controversial new picks for his Foreign Policy team.

Susan Rice will replace Tom Donilon as National Security Advisor.

Donilon announced he is stepping down after nearly 4 years.

Rice, the current U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, is the woman who Republicans blame for giving misleading explanations for the attack on the US Consulate in Benghazi, Libya.

Susan Rice says, "I look forward to continuing to serve on your national security team to keep our nation safe."

Replacing her as the UN Ambassador is Samantha Power, a former Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director at the National Security Council.

Power will need the Senate's confirmation.
