DAYTON -- A home under renovation takes a turn for the worse when it goes up in smoke this morning.
Dayton Fire crews found a lot of smoke coming from the home on E. Fifth St.
The homeowners had been painting and were using a heat gun to remove an old layer of paint.
District Chief Tim Rose of the Dayton Fire Department says, "the professional heat guns do get awfully hot, you need to keep an extinguisher with you and you need to be vigilant when you do take the paint off."
The fire caused about $15,000 in damages.
