WPAFB -- Today is the day thousands have been dreading at Wright Patt. Furlough notices are now being sent out.
Starting now, base officials are giving the bad news to about 10,000 civilian employees that they will have to take one day off, without pay, for 11 weeks.
The furloughs will begin July 8.
Ken Larock, a furloughed Audiovisual Specialist, says, "personally, I have had to pick up a part-time job to help supplement the loss of income, so that is more time away from my family and that's a big challenge."
Base officials tell us the furloughs will have a huge impact on the area, with workers losing an estimated $50 million in pay.
