PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- After a 10-year-old girl gets treated like a dog, her parents are left defending their actions.
Pennsylvania police say the girl was locked in a cage with the family pet. The cage was strapped to the back of a pickup truck while her dad drove.
The parents say they put her in to calm down their dog.
"It was in the back going, 'ooooh, oooh, ooooh!' we knew there was three of us so we couldn't put the dog inside the cab," said Thomas Fishinger, the child's stepfather. "I didn't want the dog to suffer, it's like animal cruelty to me, you know what I mean, the dog crying like that!"
Tonight, those dog lovers are charged with child endangering.
