BEAVERCREEK -- More than 300 Beavercreek High School seniors saw how the judicial system works first-hand.

The Greene County Court of Common Pleas was held today in the school's auditorium.

The judge tried two court cases, including theft and drug trafficking.

Students say the session really helped them get a better understanding of the law.

"I didn't know that our legal system was so intricate and that you really do know your rights and they tell them to you so you're not going into a trial not knowing what's happening to you and not knowing what you're being tried for," said senior Julia Gomez.

This is the third year Greene County Court of Common Pleas held court at the high school.

Government teachers say they plan to have more events like these in the future.
