PHOENIX, AZ (AP) -- A jury is deliberating on whether or not to spare Jodi Arias' life.
The Arizona woman was convicted of first degree murder in the brutal death of her ex-boyfriend. Now she says, "to this day, I can hardly believe I was capable of such violence but I know that I was."
Today, she asked the jury to give her life in prison, claiming she could help other inmates. She believes, "if I'm sentenced to life I will live among the general population of women and I'll be able to share my knowledge of those subjects with them, the ones who have a desire to learn also. I may even be able to start classes."
The jury must come to a unanimous decision on whether Arias should be sentenced to life or death.
