WEST CARROLLTON -- Retired West Carrollton Police/Fire Dispatcher Lynn C. Gomez died May 14.
Gomez started her career with the city in November 1976 and retired February 2003.
âLynn was an extremely good dispatcher, receiving numerous commendations during her time with the city,â Police Chief Rick Barnhart said.
He said she was well respected by both police and fire personnel, and possessed a wealth of knowledge about the city.
âLynn was known for her mild mannered nature both on and off duty, always remaining calm and passing that tone along to officers, fire fighters and citizens in need,â he said.
Her nurturing nature earned her the nickname âMama Gomezâ as she took âeveryone under her wing,â Barnhart said. âIn fact, when I was hired, Lynn was my primary dispatcher and she would always give me a landmark to go along with an address to help guide me to a location,â he said.
Barnhart said she was greatly missed when she retired in 2003. âThe employees of the city are deeply saddened with her passing,â he said.
A visitation is scheduled for 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, at Swartz Funeral Home.
