CINCINNATI (AP) -- The University of Cincinnati says former school president Joseph Steger has died.
Steger was the school's president for 19 years, beginning in 1984 until he stepped down in 2003.
The university says Steger died on Thursday in Cincinnati. He was 76. A cause of death was not released.
Steger oversaw a $1 billion construction boom of academic buildings and student housing during his tenure.
The school also greatly expanded its research programs and endowment under Steger.
