DAYTON -- A Yorkie mix is dead after a neighbor's pit bull reportedly got loose and attacked the 2-year-old dog.
The attack reportedly occurred Thursday on Litchfield Avenue in Dayton. The pit bull's owner says he took his eyes off the dog for a moment and it got away, ran across the street and bit the neck of the Yorkie.
The man reportedly pulled the dogs apart but not before the Yorkie's injuries became fatal.
According to a police report, the pit bull's owner offered to pay for a new dog for his neighbor.
