Beavercreek Stabbing Victim Released from Hospital, PD Investigates

BEAVERCREEK -- ABC 22 News has learned one out of the three men who were stabbed at a home in Beavercreek has been released from the hospital.

The stabbing happened just before 4:00 p.m. Monday afternoon at a home in the 1500 block of Grange Hall Road. Police say two of the men were taken to Miami Valley Hospital, the other to Soin Hospital, who was the one discharged Monday evening.

Officers say the men suffered stab wounds and bruising, however, the extent of their injuries was unknown. Sgt. Scott Spangler, with the Beavercreek Police Department says the injuries do not appear to be life threatening.

Beavercreek Police are investigating what caused this stabbing, however, evidence inside the home suggest there had been a fight.

“There is typical evidence of a large struggle, It’s disorderly,” said Sgt. Spangler.

It’s not clear what caused the stabbing. However, the homeowner says one of the victim’s was his son, the other a son-in-law. He believes the fight stemmed over the recent death of his mother and how her belongings were going to be distributed.

“At this point we are still investigating that,” explained Sgt. Spangler. “We’re not sure what led up to the incident, why it occureed and if it was all family members involved or exactly how it took place,” he said.

Neighbors in the area say they were shocked something like this happened so close to their home.

“I mean I’ve seen a fight over there before, that was about it, but I mean it’s kind of unusual for around here,” said Caine Barber, who lives next door.

Investigators interviewed multiple people who witnessed the fight and say it appears that everybody inside the home were family or friends.

"At this time we've collected, a club, several knives and a hammer that appear to have all been used in some extent in the attack," said Sgt. Spangler.

All of the men are expected to be okay and as of right now, no charges have been filed, but Sgt. Spangler says charges are expected.
