CENTERVILLE -- Helping local kids battle cancer, that is the mission of "Mom's 4 Miracles," and the community gave their mission a big boost in Centerville Saturday.

The rain held off for a Saturday round of golf. At Yankee Trace, golfers were surrounded by pint-sized sources of inspiration. People like 11 year old Kayleigh Crabtree.

"I went through a lot of treatment, chemo's, I didn't go through as much as a lot of kids though," said Kayleigh.

Then there's Ella Bowman who is nine.

"I went through cancer and it wasn't very fun, I don't want other kids to have to go through what I went through," said Ella.

The girls have become fast friends, both honored at the Mom's 4 Miracles Fundraiser.

"There are 9 of us Moms who are very blessed to have healthy children of our own and we want to go out there and help the kids who have cancer," said Jennifer Henry who helped organize the event..

The money raised from the golfers and silent and live auctions will purchase iPads.

"The funds that are going to iPads are for the Children at Children's hospital who are undergoing treatment. They're going to have iPads there for them to keep them occupied," said Henry.

"They can't really do very much because they have to stay in their beds. So if they have the iPads they can play games and it will make them smile and it will take their mind off of it," said Ella who's now cancer free. Eighteen months ago, she beat melanoma.

And Kayleigh's been in remission for six months, her hair is still growing back from all the treatment.

"It didn't bother me because hair's just an accessory, and it's not what makes you beautiful."
