First Responders Around the World Train at Calamityville

FAIRBORN--Crashes happen everyday on Miami Valley roadways, but the more first responders train; the more they can save lives.

During "Crash Course 2013" at Calamityville in Fairborn more than 200 firefighters were at the training site to practice rescue techniques on more than 100 wrecked and overturned cars.

Several local crews were present, but some came as far away as Europe to train.

With car technology changing every year, this training is becoming increasingly more important.

"Alloys, the martinized steel, the bronze steel. When they pull up they've got to realize the equipment's either going to cut it, or it's not going to cut it... or what the alternative route's going to be to get the people out," said organizer Todd Howell.

Howell Rescue's been putting on this event for 24 years.

The Kettering based company provides rescue equipment and systems.
