New Information Released About 6 Year old Run Over By a Car

Harrison Township -- A 6 year old boy who was ran over by  a car and killed in Harrison Township Wednesday night will be remembered for his active spirit and engaging smile.

People who live in Northland Village Apartments says he loved to play outside and enjoyed dodgeball.

A makeshift vigil with flowers, stuffed animals and kind words lingers feet away from where Darrell was ran over.

"Just a precious little boy, I mean there's nothing else I could say. He was just an all around great kid and now he's gone," said Angel Watson, the woman who gave the Darrell CPR minutes before he died. "We started CPR. He coughed up some blood. He started going into convulsions."

Robinson was taken to Dayton's Children Hospital where he later died.

"The child somehow was able to get out from the vehicle in the back seat while the vehicle was moving and we believe the vehicle maybe ran over the child," said Major Daryl Wilson with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.

"He was just laying in the street, like he was still breathing and everything when they left. I still can't believe he died this morning," said Larrine Dockery, a neighbor.

Counselors were at Imagine Community School in Dayton. Darrell was in kindergarten there.

The district's superintendent said he was a good kid, never got into trouble and obviously everyone is devastated.

"He was so smart. He would talk up a storm," said Watson. "He was always really polite, really well mannered.

The investigation into his death is ongoing. It's not clear yet whether Darrell was in a car seat or wearing a seatbelt.

Police say the little boy's death is a tough reminder to check all safety measures before you take a trip with your kid.

"Make sure you activate the child safety locks when you have a child in the backseat or children in the back seat," said Major Wilson. Also utilize the booster and child safety seats.

Funeral arrangements for Darrell are pending. There is also a memorial fund in the works.
