CINCINNATI -- Police spent about a half an hour on Monday searching the Queensgate area for a monkey escaped from a circus train.  But the whole search turned out to be a bust.

Police got a call around noon that a Ringling Brothers and Barney & Bailey Circus train passing through the Tri-State lost a monkey.

The train was stopped near Hopple Street. Police briefly searched the area for the animal.

Once they were able to talk to engineers on the train, they were told the train was not carrying monkeys - just elephants and a few other animals. Engineers said they were not aware of any missing animals from the train.

Large Monkey Reportedly on the Loose in Cincinnati

CINCINNATI -- News reports are saying a large monkey is on the run near the Cincinnati Museum Center at Union Terminal.

According to WCPO, a Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey train passed through the center’s train station early today, but officials aren't confirming whether the large primate escaped from that train.

Authorities also aren't saying what kind of monkey is on the lam. It was reportedly last seen near Dalton Avenue. Cincinnati residents are asked to call 911 or Cincinnati police if they see the monkey.
