ODOT Seeking Comments on Upcoming Projects

MIAMI VALLEY -- The Ohio Department of Transportation District 7 is seeking public comments regarding the following projects: 

• ODOT proposes to rehabilitate the existing bridge on SR 66 over Koop Creek (aka Kopp Creek).  The project is necessary to maintain the bridge.

• ODOT proposes to undertaken maintenance activities on four bridges carrying SR 296 over Kings Creek and one of its tributaries.  The project is necessary to maintain the bridges.

• The City of Springfield will upgrade the existing traffic signal at the intersection of Mitchell and Belmont.  The project is necessary to improve operations at the intersection.
DAR-Proposed County Garage Site – ODOT proposes to acquire 10 acres of land off Jaysville-St. Johns Road in Greenville for the construction of a new ODOT county garage.  A new facility is necessary to accommodate modern highway maintenance equipment. 

• The City of Huber Heights proposes to improve Chambersburg Road from east of Brandt Pike to Evergreen Woods Drive.  The project will include a center left turn lane, sidewalks, and storm sewer improvements.  The project is necessary to reduce congestion and improve safety.

• Montgomery County proposes to widen Yankee Street from Austin Pike to Winding Green Way.  The project will require acquisition of up to 1.2-acre of permanent right-of-way and 0.4-acre of temporary right-of-way from the Yankee Trace County Club.  The acquisition from Yankee Trace is considered to have a de minimis effect on this recreational 4(f) resource.

• The City of West Carrollton will improve the intersection of Central Avenue and Cedar Street.  Work will include installation of a dedicated left turn on westbound Central Avenue and other improvements.  The project is necessary to reduce congestion and improve safety.

• ODOT will replace three culverts on SR 29.  The project is necessary to address the deteriorated condition of the culverts.

• The City of Sidney will undertake intersection and access management improvements on SR 47 in the vicinity of Vandemark Road, Folkerth/Wayfarer Avenues, and Wilkinson Avenue.  The project is necessary to improve safety at high crash locations along the corridor.

Comments may be submitted by contacting the individual below. Issues the public may wish to comment on include, but are not limited to, the effect of the project on local residents, air quality, the local economy, and historic or cultural resources.  Comments should be submitted by Friday, May 31.
