CELINA--Officers and cyclists gathered in Celina today for the "Blessing of the Bikes."
Mercer County Safe Communities hosted the event along with the sheriff's office.
The annual event promotes safe and sober riding.
Deputies say more people are riding bikes, but the number of accidents has gone down.
"Because of safety, defensive driving, people want to look out for motorcycles...economically more people are going to motorcycles at 40 and 50 miles per gallon, people are driving them to work every day," said Captain Mark Heinl of the Mercer County Sheriff's Office.
Rain kept some riders away this year but organizers are hoping for a better turn out next year.
