Ohio State Rowing Team Under Suspension

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP)--Ohio State University's club crew team has until Tuesday to appeal a suspension for alleged hazing and other student-code violations.

The Columbus Dispatch reports that Ohio State says the co-ed team of about 60 rowers has been under interim suspension since the week of March 18.

OSU Office of Student Life spokesman Dave Isaacs declined to provide details of what the hazing involved. He says the alleged activities took place the week of March 11 and the suspension is until December 2014.

The team's coach didn't immediately return a call for comment Saturday.

Team founder Chris Swartz says he isn't whether the team will appeal. He says the penalty seems appropriate based on what he was told about hazing or bullying of novice rowers on a spring-break trip.
