DAYTON -- There have been a few stories in recent news of neighbors fighting back against crooks.
We wanted to know if local police support neighbors trying to take on someone else's attacker. They told us, it really depends on the situation, whether the suspect has a weapon, and what you feel comfortable doing.
"We don't expect anyone to put their own safety in danger trying to get involved or prevent a crime," said Lt. Donald Burden with the Dayton Police, "It's that person's personal choice at the time 33
Police say if you see a crime in progress or something suspicious always call 911, and try to remember as many details about the suspect as possible.
