SPRINGFIELD -- Cops were in pursuit of a stolen vehicle driven by William Dufner Jr. when the stolen car over-heated and Dufner ran off on foot.
According to police they lost Dufner's scent.
When officers went back to the abandoned vehicle they found Dufner's wallet and ID sitting on the front seat.
Dufner has been charged with receiving stolen property. He was already in the Clark County Jail on unrelated charged.
DNA evidence returned from the state crime lab also helped identify Dufner as the suspect in the theft.
