CARLISLE -- One man creates three separate scenes for police in Carlisle. It all started early Friday morning on Beachler Drive.
Police say the driver hit a car head-on and then tried to drive away. In the process, he drove through an intersection and crashed into a house. He backed away and drove to his own home.
That's where police caught up to him. He was arrested on outstanding warrants from Middletown and not for the crash.
No one was hurt in the incident but when the car ran past a stop sign and through bushes, over a steel beam and hit the house, Verlin Charles, 91, was sitting in a chair less than 10 feet away from the wall the driver rammed into.
"That tv was sitting on that wall and it knocked it that far," said Charles.
"Shocked, he sits in a chair next to where the guy hit the house so he was lucky it didn't hurt him," said daughter Merry Tipton.
As a war veteran, he says he's seen worse.
"I've had things like that happen to me before, I was in the armed forces," said Charles.
"He's tough, he's alert," said Tipton.
"I didn't get scared, didn't have time," Charles added.
"My dad called me this morning and told me someone had run into the house," said Tipton.
"All hell broke lose last night he said," daughter Charline Creager said.
Police don't know if alcohol was involved but are currently investigating both crashes.
"I hope that he wasn't drinking, if he was he needs to not drink and drive, my dad's 91 and he lives alone," said Tipton.
The crash happened at three in the morning so Charles is hoping tonight that he can sleep peacefully.
"I didn't sleep much, probably half an hour or so," said Charles.
Believe it or not Charles says he's actually used to this kind of thing because a few years ago another driver ran past a stop sign and into his house....so he's always on alert.
The crash is under investigation.
