"It makes me really nervous especially since I have kids. It was a family event and there were kids," said John Curry of Miamisburg.
The horrific images at Monday's Boston marathon are forever burned into our minds. Law enforcement are still trying to figure out how the bombs went undetected. Authorites are also asking the public to hand over any personal pictures or video of the event. They're hoping someone captured whoever is responsible for this tradegy on tape.
"Nowadays you got to watch out for your surroundings. It's pretty bad when you have to watch for stuff like that," said Curry.
"People see something out of the ordinary but they don't see other people reacting so they ignore it and that in itself makes the situation more dangerous," agreed Rebecca Watson of Springboro.
The Boston marathon bombing now has police agencies right here in the Miami Valley urging families to be vigilant by keeping an eye out for suspicious packages and people, especially during the big events we have here, like the Dayton Air Show, Dragons' games, and summer concerts and festivals.
"The community needs to, and we've said this since 9-11, if you see something, say something. Never be ashamed or afraid to make a call. Anything that looks suspicious or out of the ordinary to you, we would rather check it out. Call the bomb squad if we have to. But we would rather check it out than have a disaster in Boston like they did yesterday," said Clark Co. Sheriff Gene Kelly.
It's an easy phone call to make, and one that makes your neighborhood a much safer place.
