DAYTON -- A.J. Wagner, a candidate for the Dayton mayor's office, has released his plan for community safety.
He wants to change police officers and firefighters to a non-competitive class, and require an associate's degree and reduce the number of candidates that would have to go through Dayton's training classes but accepting other certificates as proof of experience.
Wagner said that will save the city money without reducing the number of officers and firefighters.
âI will put this change before the Civil Service Board for their consideration," Wagner wrote in a statement released Tuesday. "I hope that the attraction of more safety forces, more savings and an end to discriminatory practices will convince them to act and act soon," Wagner said.
