DAYTON -- Army Specialist Daniel Eggleston did not expect a hero's welcome after his year long deployment, but that's exactly what he got Friday evening as he stepped off the plane at Dayton International Airport.
More than a dozen members of Eggleston's family were armed with welcome home signs and American flags to mark his return.
''We're glad he made it home alive and we want to thank the other soldiers who are still fighting because they are still fighting over there.'' Dan Eggleston, Spec. Eggleston's father told us.
Specialist Eggleston was in Italy and then spent the past six months on the front lines in Afghanistan. He told us very simply, that he's glad to be home.
Eggleston's family plans to celebrate his homecoming with a backyard barbeque.
