DAYTON -- The family of a University of Dayton student who apparently committed suicide on Tuesday, now says they want the school to dig deeper, and they intend to do their own private investigation.
UD officials say Larry Cook, 18 jumped from a six floor window at Stuart Hall. But Cook's family says Larry was a jovial person who had no reason to commit suicide and they want the University to further investigate Cook's death.
"Dayton police have assigned a homicide detective yet the school, the University of Dayton is running articles saying that this was a suicide.'', attorney Christopher Chestnut said today during a press conference outside the UD entrance, ''All the family wants is an objective analysis, an objective investigation; find the facts first before making any allegations. There's nothing about this young man that indicates that he would want to commit suicide."
The University of Dayton issued this statement Friday afternoon, ''The University of Dayton community offers our deepest prayers and support to the family. We all mourn the loss of this young man's life. The Montgomery County coroner's office has officially ruled the death a suicide.''
