DAYTON -- A Dayton woman killed while riding her motorcycle has been identified as 47-year-old Eva Brooks-Fletcher.

The accident happened around 5:15 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of West Third and Abbey Avenue.  Police say the car that hit Brooks-Fletcher was speeding and possibly ran a red light.  The three people inside the car got out of the vehicle and took off right after the crash.

Brooks-Fletcher died at the scene. She was wearing a helmet, but police say the crash was so violent, it likely wouldn't have mattered.

We spoke with a friend of the victim who says she and other members of their bike club were coming from the funeral of another member when the crash happened.

"Use extra care now that motorcycles and bikes are out there, especially around busy intersections," Dayton Police Sgt. Mark Spiers warned drivers.

A four-block radius of West Third was roped off while police investigated this deadly crash.
