WEST ALEXANDRIA---Two people were injured after a semi rear ended an MRDD bus in west Alexandria Monday afternoon.

The accident happened just after 4pm at the intersection of US 35 and Quaker Trace Road in Preble county.

Sheriff's deputies tell us that the bus was turning onto Quaker Trace from 35 when the semi hit it from behind. Deputies say the semi driver did attempt to stop, but was following too closely and struck the bus.

There were two people on board the bus along with driver. Only one of the bus passengers suffered a head injury. It's believed to be a minor head injury.

The bus driver and other occupant were checked out at the scene and not hurt.

The driver of the semi suffered some cuts when his window shattered. He was not taken to the hospital, however.

Sheriff's deputies say the semi driver was cited for causing the crash.

Traffic was diverted around the accident scene while they investigated.
