Cracking Down on Illegal Dumping

Dayton-- The Montgomery County Environmental Crimes Task Force is cracking down on those responsible for illegal dumping of tires and trash on vacant sites.

The county has investigated more than 30 environmental crimes including open dumping and unlawful transportation of scrap tires and officials are working to prosecute more people who are responsible.

"Environmental crimes, such as illegal dumping, have been plaguing Montgomery County for years," said Brian Fowls, community program specialist for Montgomery County Environmental Services. "Open dumping poses a risk to public health and cost local municipalities hundreds of thousands of dollars."

The city is encouraging residents to use their solid waste dump site on 2550 Sandridge. The first ten tires you dump are free.

Annette Peagler will have more about the illegal dumping crackdown on FOX 45 at 10 and ABC 22 at 11.
