UPDATE: Firefighter Struck By Vehicle In Serious Condition

DAYTON -- The firefighter who was struck by a vehicle while on scene at the 11-vehicle crash this morning on US 35 is listed in serious condition at Miami Valley Hospital.

Capt. Barry Cron was recently promoted to his current rank with the Dayton Fire Department.

UPDATE: 11 Car Crash Shuts Down U.S. 35; Firefighter Hit While on Scene

DAYTON -- U.S. 35 remains closed between Abbey Avenue and Gettysburg Avenue following an 11-car crash.

It all started around 5:30 Tuesday morning. Investigators say that area of U.S. 35 was a complete sheet of ice. That created a chain reaction of crashes.

At least one car wound up on its top and two people have been taken to the hospital. One of those people is said to be in serious condition.

A Fire Captain was also injured on the scene. We're told he was hit by a vehicle and thrown 30 to 40 feet. He was taken to the hospital, but is expected to be OK.

Accident investigators remain on scene and U.S. 35 will be shut down for the next few hours.

DAYTON -- Dayton police are on the scene of a serious crash on U.S. 35. A large emergency response has been called to U.S. 35 East at Gettysburg Avenue after a rollover crash.

Our Hilary Zalla is on the scene and says about 10 cars are involved. She reports at least one person has been seriously injured.
