DAYTON-- A Dayton mother and her boyfriend are behind bars, arrested for beating their 3 year old child with a belt.
Police said a relative was watching the 3 year old when they noticed bruising on the little boy's body and took him to Dayton Children's Medical Center. Doctors evaluated the little boy and then called police.
During their investigation, police arrested the child's mother Jordan Hayes, and her boyfriend Darwin A. Raleigh, for beating the boy with belts.
The two were taken into custody at their home on Volkenand Avenue.
Elizabeth Freeland lives next to the couple, and she said she never saw anything suspicious
"I am in a state of shock over this. They are so quiet. I never heard anything, or saw any marks on the little boy."
Hayes and Raleigh are locked up in the Montgomery County Jail. Bail has been set for each at $ 2,500. They are scheduled to have arraignment hearings on Tuesday.
