DAYTON -- A fast moving fire forces dozens to flee a Burkhardt Avenue apartment building.
The flames broke out in the basement of the building, and then quickly spread to the first floor. Everyone was able to escape unharmed, but a firefighter hurt his shoulder putting out the flames.
The Red Cross is now assisting about 40 people who were displaced by the fire. They've set up a shelter at the First Baptist Church of Kettering on Swigart Road.
There will be a donation drive Saturday for the residents. You can drop off clothes and household items from 10am to 3pm or during regular business hours all next week at the Wright Landing Apartments office. You can also contribute monetary donations to any Chase Bank under the Wright Landing Apartments Fund.
