COLUMBUS -- City Commissioner Nan Whaley was expected to testify Tuesday morning at the Statehouse in support of the Dayton-area manufacturing industry.
Whaley was to speak on behalf of the Dayton Region Manufacturing Task Force at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday before the House Economic Development and Regulatory Reform Committee.
According to the City of Dayton, there are more than 2,400 manufacturers employing 100,000 workers in the Dayton region.
Whaley in 2011 convened a manufacturing task force made up of representatives from businesses, labor, education, farming and government. The group is focused on promotional and education efforts to ensure the manufacturing industry retains a strong presence in the Dayton region.
âOhioâs workforce and infrastructure have proven to be an asset to manufacturing. We must continue to work to bring jobs back to our community,â Whaley said.
