DAYTON -- The family of former Moraine Mayor Bob Rosencrans will continue to honor his memory and add to his legacy with the third annual Bob Rosencrans Memorial Blood Drive, to be held on his birthday, Thursday, March 28, at Community Blood Center (CBC) in downtown Dayton.
Rosencrans was a dedicated blood donor who made more than 70 donations in his lifetime. Family members sponsored the first Bob Rosencrans Memorial Blood Drive at the Dayton CBC in 2011. They say they wanted to honor his life and his commitment to helping others by continuing to hold the memorial blood drive on his birthday.
âWe didnât want it to be a one-time thing,â said his daughter Megan Rosencrans, who donated in his honor at last yearâs memorial drive. âHe made blood donations a lifetime commitment and we kind of wanted to follow through.â
Rosencrans was 61 when he was killed in a traffic collision caused by a speeding driver on October 15, 2010. He had been mayor since January 2010, his second time in that office. He was first elected to the Moraine City Council in 1991.
