DAYTON--The Miami Valley Down Syndrome Association held a 5k run to celebrate world down syndrome day.
Everyone was decked out in green channeling the luck of the Irish.
Organizers say the event promotes awareness for people living with down syndrome.
"We are here to celebrate those individuals with down syndrome and we are here to represent all eleven counties we service that have down syndrome. We are promoting inclusion and awareness for everyone with down syndrome," said Dawn Koester, Vice President of the Miami Valley Down Syndrome Association .
Today was the organization's first 5k run but they plan on bringing it back next year.
