KETTERING -- A 31-year-old Miami Township man was arrested Wednesday after police said he assaulted another man during a road rage incident.
Kettering Police said Tyler J. Dieterle is charged with felonious assault after an altercation at 5:10 p.m. Wednesday on South Dixie Highway near West Dorothy Lane. Police said they were dispatched to the scene on a report of a man assaulting another man with a crow bar.
Officers said they found the victim had been struck numerous times on the head, sitting on the curb. He was transported to a hospital.
Dieterle fled the scene in his car after the assault and as he fled, police said, he struck a witness in the leg with his car. That witness had been trying to help the assault victim and report Dieterle's license plate number to police.
Police said they discovered that Dieterle went home in Miami Township and then was taken to a hospital by a friend for treatment of an eye injury. After being treated there, police arrested him and took him to the Kettering Jail.
He remains in jail and has no bond.
