FAIRBORN -- A local company on the verge of potential layoffs. Serco a logistics and management company that provides services for the US government could be downsizing because of sequestration cuts.
Serco employs more than 200 people at this Fairborn office. 11,000 people nation wide. The company has 400 government contracts in the area of IT and Professional and management services.
The billion dollar company also provides national security and works hand and hand with Wright Patterson Air force Base.
"It's very disappointing because it seems like this area has definitely taken a hit with job losses," said Sandy Rue, a Fairborn.
Rue is referring to the 13,000 civilians from Wright Patterson Air Force Base also affected by sequestration presented with unpaid furlough options this year.
"They need to cut a bunch of other waste there's tons of stuff , they don't even know where money's been going to in our government, find billions of dollars in waste that they don't even know where it's at first before these people get laid off first," said Dave Neix, a resident of Beavercreek.
No clear details about the layoffs were presented in the letter but it said due to lack of funding certain government contracts that the company manages could be affected.
We asked several workers of Serco if they wanted to comment and no one wanted to go on camera but they said they were aware they could be losing their job.
"I feel really bad for them the government should have done something a long time ago to get it to where they are not going to lose their jobs, Obama had plenty of time to figure things out so did Congress, the Senate," said Amber Carroll-Fossano of Fairborn
If the layoffs happen they will be based on seniority.
