5 Children Removed from Filthy Home

DAYTON-- Police find a "disgusting mess"  which prompted  Child Protective Services to take custody of  five children.

Police were originally  called to the home in the 100 block of Glencoe Avenue,  on a report of a theft of a kindle fire, but once inside,  they
found conditions, they said were  so  were  disgusting, they had to remove  the 5  children.

According to the responding officers,  the smell of animal feces and urine  in the home was over-whelming.

Police said the kitchen counters were full of dirty dishes,  and roaches were crawling everywhere.

Officers  said  every room had piles of trash, along  with  dog feces on the floor, and there was  no furniture  for the  children to sleep on.

Police spoke to the  mother,  Heather Coker  who said  she couldn't clean her home, because  her boyfriend beat so badly and  broke her hand.

Dayton police arrested her live-in  boyfriend , Goodloe Briscoe for felonious assault , domestic violence, and child endangering.

"I don't know how someone could let their house go like that."   Dayton mother  Melissa Lockheart  said.   She feels badly for  the  5 year old,   the two 8 year olds,  the 10  year  old,  and  the 14 year old.

"No kid should live in a nasty environment like that."

Coker was taken to the hospital for  her hand injury, but she is also facing child endangering charges.

The  5 children are now living with relatives.
