DAYTON -- Some of the best singers in the Miami Valley performed their rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner Saturday at the Dayton Mall.

All are hoping for a shot to sing the national anthem in front of a sold out crowd at a Dayton Dragons game this season.

Organizers expect more than 400 singers to try out over the course of the weekend.

Singing the anthem offers people a chance to be a part of Dayton baseball.

Erin Beadle, the Dayton Dragons Marketing Manager says, "It allows people to come out and support their family and friends that are trying out as well as give them an opportunity to be involved in Dayton baseball."

Following these auditions, 70 performers will be chosen to sing the anthem for Dayton Dragons games with the grand prize winner performing on opening day, which is April 11th.

This is the 14th year the Dragons have held these auditions.

There will be a second round of tryouts at the Fairfield Commons mall on Sunday from noon until 5:00PM.
